A bohemian love story

By Bride and Groom 29 January 2020

Fast forward 11 weeks from the moment he proposed, Tom Buzza and Rebekah Riordan were pronounced husband and wife.

With a baby on the way and football season around the corner they didn’t want to put their marriage on hold.

Within three days, they had ticked off the date, the venue, the photographer and the entertainment.

“We just picked a date and everything just fell into place,” Rebekah said.

“It all came together as we had hoped, and more.

“I don’t know how we did it.”

The next thing on the list was the bridesmaid dresses.

Rebekah immediately fell in love and the Shona Joy design formed the wedding’s rustic yet glamorous style.

Choosing vintage furniture, earthy tones and a big dose of fun with personalised wine bottles, it came together at lightning pace, and Cactus Country in Strathmerton made the perfect backdrop for photos.

But finding a dress for herself and her growing bump was a little more difficult for Rebekah.

Putting her trust in Grace Loves Lace, Rebekah sent off her measurements and they estimated how much she would grow before saying ‘I do’ at 28 weeks’ pregnant.

Purchased sight unseen, the bride couldn’t have been happier when the lace gown arrived. It was perfect.

With the big day approaching fast, there was no need for an engagement party but the pair still found time to celebrate hen’s and buck’s parties.

It was then her friends gifted the bride-to-be a beautiful denim jacket embroidered with ‘Mrs Buzza’ on the back.

The tight timeframe allowed the couple to focus on what a wedding day really is about – marriage.

It was a poignant moment when they exchanged personalized vows, with Rebekah’s then three-and-a-half-year-old daughter Lola by their side.

“There was a lot to say to each other,” she said

“Tom also wrote vows directly for Lola as her step-dad.

“He made everyone cry and he presented her with a locket as a promise.

“For all of my family, they were really moved by it.”

And now the couple has welcomed a second little girl, Hilde, into the family.
