Old world charm

By Bride and Groom 11 October 2019

Morning rainfall didn’t dampen the spirits of Libby Eddy and Matthew Hooper as they prepared for their wedding, instead the fickle weather delivered a stunning silver lining.

“All morning it was raining quite heavily, everyone was stressing out except me! I knew the rain would stop before the ceremony, luckily it stopped before we left in the cars, and the weather was then perfect, with the overcast sky making for great photos,” Libby said.

Arrive in style

The bride and her bridesmaids made a head-turning entrance when they were chauffeured to Noorilim Estate, Murchison in magnificently restored and gleaming Holden HK and HQ Monaros, generously loaned by friends.

Wheels were a theme on the day, with some of the official photos being taken near the groom’s Harley Davidson motorbike, which was being ridden by a friend and generating plenty of smoke from burnouts.

Ring bearer

The groom’s son Cody had a special role, carrying the wedding rings in a hand-crafted timber box emblazoned with the couple’s names and wedding date.

“Cody made a speech at our wedding, which was totally unexpected, and told everyone how happy he was that I was his step-mum. It was the sweetest thing ever,” Libby said.

Colour palette

Fashionable for modern brides is choosing the same style of bridesmaids’ dresses but in different colours.

Libby’s bridesmaids’ dresses in shades of light and dark grey looked perfect with the bouquets of cream and pale pink roses, and as a bonus on the day, also matched the overcast grey skies.

Stunning cake

A gorgeous three-tiered wedding cake was the perfect blend of modern and traditional with on-trend finishes and a classic design.

The marble-look bottom tier contrasted with a geometric rose gold trim on the pale pink middle tier, with the top tier decorated in white to balance the creation.

“The cake was fantastic! We had two different flavours, the top and bottom were white chocolate – Matt and my favourites - and the middle was normal chocolate, our son Cody’s favourite,” Libby said.

Lolly favours

Cute glass jars filled with colourful lollies were the perfect take home gift for Libby and Matt’s guests.

“Our household personally loves lollies and it was a great, cost effective and fun wedding favour to put together. I've seen a lot of candles done as favours and really wanted to do something different,” Libby said.
