Relaxed romance

By Bride and Groom 22 February 2019

A chance meeting while holidaying in Greece, and a two-year long-distance romance, was just the beginning of Chelsea Scott and Alexander Farmer’s love story.

Alexander left his home town in New Zealand to be with Chelsea in Australia and late last year they cemented their love with a romantic wedding ceremony on the banks of the Murray River, the water representing the journey they had taken to be together.

Pre-loved gown

Savvy bride Chelsea found her dream wedding dress online, on a website for pre-loved gowns. The stunning ivory creation featured a sheer lace, corset-style bodice with intricate beading detail, slim-line skirt and train.

“I really don’t like the idea of these beautiful dresses only being worn once, so I was lucky enough to find exactly what I wanted and all the measurements were perfect,” Chelsea said.

Bridemaids' choice

With two of her three bridesmaids living interstate or overseas, Chelsea knew the simplest way to decide on dresses was to give her attendants a brief and ask them to choose their own. Floor-length gowns in a delicate blush colour were the only two stipulations and the three bridesmaids chose very different, but complementary, dresses. Blush pink rose highlights in the classic bouquets pulled the look together.

Words of love

Alexander compiled all the emails he and Chelsea had exchanged during their long-distance romance into a keepsake book, with the final page featuring a new poem and letter asking her to marry him. The romantic groom-to-be presented the book to his future wife during a surprise marriage proposal, on the beach in Mount Martha, in the presence of their young son Lincoln.
