A weekend away to celebrate their 10th anniversary as a couple was the ideal time for Dale Heyward to propose to Tracey Hall. While walking along the beach at Lorne, one of their favourite places, Dale stopped to read Tracey their ‘love story’, a history of their lives together, before asking her to marry him.
Defying the modern trend for outdoor ceremonies, Tracey and Dale chose the beautiful red-brick St Mary’s Catholic Church in Mooroopna. “We were looking for a small and traditional church but it was important that it was welcoming to today’s world,” Tracey said. “Dale was a little unsure about getting married in a church at first, as he isn’t Catholic; however, once he met Monsignor Peter Jeffrey it was an easy decision. Mons was fantastic and the way he personalised our ceremony was very special.”
After a hiccup when the first bridesmaids’ dresses arrived with a design flaw, Tracey went for another option and chose elegant, pink dresses with asymmetrical hemlines that were perfect for a summer wedding. “I really wanted a dress that wasn’t your standard bridesmaid’s dress. This design from Thurley was beyond perfect and two of my bridesmaids have already been able to wear their dresses again so that’s always a bonus,” Tracey said.
Stunning fresh flowers topped the two-tiered wedding cake, which was a delicious vanilla butter cake with a vanilla butter cream semi-naked finish. Displayed on an old wine barrel, and surrounded by greenery, the cake added to the relaxed rustic vibe Tracey and Dale dreamed their wedding day would be.
We love: The stunning use of folliage from the bouquets through to reception decor.
