What Chelsea Kennedy thought was simply a thoughtful winery lunch turned into a huge celebration when Jon Young got down on one knee on the banks of the Goulburn River. The surprises did not stop there, with the happy couple’s nearest and dearest appearing for an impromptu engagement party.
After bonding over a mutual love for waterskiing, Chelsea and Jon knew they wanted to be married by the water. Hide and Seek Winery was the perfect location. With pallet furniture and festoon lighting overlooking the river, the scene was set for the festival-inspired celebrations. Chelsea said bussing their guests to the venue meant everyone could relax and enjoy the day. “The vibe of the day was the most important thing - we just wanted everyone to have fun,” Chelsea said.
Continuing with the relaxed atmosphere, dinner was served from a trio of food trucks – Fancy Hanks, Nem Nem and The Brulee Cart – while a caravan bar, Roaming Poppy, served up the drinks. “We wanted it to be a big party,” Chelsea said. “We had American-style finger food, and the main was a Vietnamese food truck and for dessert we had a crème brulee cart.”
With intricate lace details, Chelsea instantly fell in love with one of the first dresses she laid her eyes on. But it was not until a month later that she was able to make an appointment and try on the unique beauty. “I just wanted something a little bit different,” she said. “It wasn’t a traditional shape and style, it was just me.”
“Steal your new husband for 10 minutes,” Chelsea said. “Take some time to sit together with no other distractions and enjoy the moment. Drink in the majesty of the beautiful day you have created together.”
