On the other side of the world, when she was least expecting it, Irishwoman Leona Rogan met the man of her dreams Angelo Sciacca.
Bringing together their Irish and Italian heritages, the loved-up couple celebrated with not one, but two, wedding days.
Travelling to Australia in search of adventure Leona never expected to stay more than a year, maybe two.
But just a month into her working holiday, she met Angelo at Sciacca Orchards near Shepparton and never left.
“Now this is home,” Leona said.
As soon as the wedding planning began, they realised having all their loved ones in one place was simply not possible.
Instead they decided to mark the occasion with Angelo’s family in Shepparton before returning to Leona’s homeland for a second reception.
“We wanted to celebrate with everyone but most of my family and friends couldn’t travel,” she said.
Almost four years after their chance meeting, they declared their love at Shepparton’s St Brendan’s Catholic Church.
To represent their beginning and future on the orchard, The Woolshed @ Emerald Bank was decorated with apples and pears for the reception.
The newlyweds danced the night away to Italian and Irish music, while guests drew from Angelo’s heritage by wrapping the couple in streamers.
Just two weeks later they continued the celebrations in Balbriggan, Ireland.
“Over here I did a rustic theme and at home I did a more glamorous one, so I got the best of both worlds,” Leona said.
“After all the planning of both the Australian and Irish weddings, the most memorable part was seeing Angelo at the end of the aisle.”
