Riverside romance

By Bride and Groom 11 June 2018

Almost two years after Zane Johnstone proposed to Larissa Royden on the anniversary of their first date, they were married in the very same spot.

Not even a sprinkle of rain could dampen their happiness as they said “I do” with their sons Kai and Tyler by their sides.

A special location

It may have taken Larissa and Zane some time to decide on their ceremony location but in the end they could not go past the place they became engaged.

“We had dinner, followed by an ice-cream and a walk down the port,” Larissa said.

“We made our way to the Aquatic Reserve, where Zane got down on one knee and grabbed my hand and asked ‘will you spend the rest of your life with me?’ and of course I said ‘yes’.”

For the outdoorsy couple the banks of the Murray River surrounded by natural greenery made a stunning and meaningful backdrop for the nuptials.

It was also the perfect location for guests to enjoy cocktail hour before wandering across the road for the reception.

Meaningful music

With the ceremony bursting with emotion, Larissa said it was her man of honour – younger brother – Blake Royden who brought her to tears as he performed Just the Way You Are by Boyce Avenue.

Last minute decision

Just two months out from her wedding date Larissa realised the dress she had purchased when 20-weeks pregnant with their first child, Kai, was no longer ‘the one’.

After trying on more than 20 different styles she found the dream dress and said it was important to keep an open mind.

“It was completely the opposite but I was so glad I tried it on,” she said.

Best friends forever

The most memorable part of the day for the bride was marrying her best friend.

“I’ll never forget walking down the aisle, looking up at my future husband crying, thinking ‘this is the best moment in my life’,” she said.

“I would love to redo our day, and I wouldn’t change a thing.”
