On a beautiful April day Laura Thomson and Sam Bowmaker exchanged vows and became husband and wife.
Surrounded by friends and family at Euroa’s Butter Factory, not even a brief shower could rain on their parade.
Change of plans
The couple’s reception was intended to continue under the stars throughout the night, but an unexpected weather forecast made the final decision a bit more stressful, resulting in the couple organising a marquee at the last minute to protect their guests from an April shower.
“They say rain on you wedding day means good luck,” Laura said.
With a monochromatic palette of white and black taking centre stage at their wedding, Laura and Sam found creative ways to add a pop of colour to their day.
Bursts of pale pink and fuchsia hues surrounded by bushels of foliage were a romantic addition to the simplistic colour scheme.
Despite attending the same school since grade five, it wasn’t until Laura and Sam’s schooling journey was nearly over that they really got to know each other.
“It wasn’t until Year 12 that we became closer friends and then shared a kiss one night at a party,” Laura said. “Seven years later and here we are!”
Although Laura walked down the aisle in a stunning classic dress featuring a sweeping train and cathedral length veil, she was originally unsure of what she would wear on the big day, until she found the perfect dress.
“I just really loved the length of the train, it looked amazing and so simple and elegant, which is exactly what I wanted.”
