Celeste James and Benjamin Matthes’ April wedding was a throwback to the glamour and class of the 1920s.
The couple opted for pearl and silver features combined with leafy green touches, to create the perfect country wedding.
Wedding inspiration was drawn from the F. Scott Fitzgerald classic The Great Gatsby, with glitz and glamour ruling the day.
Celeste’s hand-beaded gown set the scene, and the tall vases, ostrich feathers, silver jewelled candle holders and table runners ensured the decor continued this look.
Remembering loved ones
Although Benjamin’s mother Norma had passed away before her son’s wedding, she was honoured in a special way on the day.
“A memorial candle was lit to honour her. This was a significant part of the ceremony and was later taken to the reception, which was a beautiful way to treasure her memory,” Celeste said.
Learn to laugh
Celeste’s walk down the aisle took an unexpected turn when a gust of wind took hold of her veil, causing it to fly off her head. Luckily for the bride her father grabbed hold of it, and passed it to the maid of honour to carry down the aisle.
“Little things happen but they are completely insignificant in the happiness of your day; embrace them because they often become a hilarious moment to look back on,” Celeste said.
