A charming country celebration

By Bride and Groom 23 March 2018

An impromptu camping trip to Sheepyard Flat set off alarm bells for Janelle Hastings, but nothing could prepare her for the magical moment when Ryan Jeffery proposed surrounded by snowcapped mountains.

The couple continued their love for the picturesque, having their wedding in the dreamy countryside that Ryan’s family calls home.

Sparkling surprise

A jeweller by trade, Janelle had long envisioned her dream engagement ring.

Five months before Ryan popped the question the couple designed this meaningful piece together.

“It was a special experience,” she said.

“I didn’t see the final product so it was still a surprise.”

DIY blooms

It was a case of ‘like mother, like daughter’ when it came to the bouquets.

Janelle decided to make her own bouquet of life-like faux blooms and floral decorations – after being inspired by her own mother Kellie’s handmade bouquet for her wedding.

“My mum made her own flowers so I thought I could do the same,” she said.

Vintage wheels

The bridal party ventured to Mt Major to take advantage of the panoramic views for some photographs, and made the journey in true country style.

They were driven there on a beautifully restored Chamberlain tractor that was borrowed from friends.

“It was great, all the bridal party held on as the freezing wind chilled us; we shared plenty of laughs and huddled together for warmth,” Janelle said.

Sweet treat

Ryan spent hours putting together a soft-serve buffet with an array of toppings and mix-ins including Ice Magic, jelly, Milo, Nerds, honeycomb, berries and waffle sticks.

“Ryan loves ice-cream and decided that was the perfect dessert for the wedding,” Janelle said. “It was a huge hit.”
