Eight years of love and two children later, Melissa Thom and Jason Ibbotson were married in a family-filled day.
Their children Zac and Cara were by their side, watching their parents make the commitment to love one another forever.
Part of the love story
The couple’s five-year-old son Zac and two-year-old daughter Cara were an important part of the day, as best man and flower girl.
“Having our children standing beside us as we said our vows and being so much a part of the ceremony was very memorable,” Melissa said.
“They are a huge part of our story as a couple and it was as much a day for them as it was for us.”
A family proposal
The couple was walking around Nagambie Lake with their then two-year-old son Zac when he stopped to ask a very important question.
“(He) asked me ‘if I would marry Daddy?’ as Zac handed me the ring that Jason had managed to sneak into his pocket,” Melissa said.
The proposal took her completely by surprise but she, of course, said yes.
A chance meeting
After meeting during a night on the town many years ago, Melissa was not immediately charmed by Jason.
It took more than six months before Jason finally convinced his now wife to go on out a date with him.
“I guess his persistence finally wore mine down!” said Melissa, who is now very glad she said yes.
