A celebration of family and friends

Whimsical gumtrees created a stunning backdrop for Jackie Graham and Johnny Trapani’s wedding. Their special day was a celebration of family and friends; with the newlyweds forgoing quiet moments alone on the day – instead opting to join guests for the canapés and drinks.

Enchanting décor

Vintage treasures and wooden elements were key to styling Jackie and Johnny’s magical day. Wine barrels and rustic crates were adorned with flowers, DIY paper love hearts marked the beginning of the aisle, and the bride’s father handcrafted a wooden ring box engraved with the happy couple’s names and wedding date. The table featured wooden centre pieces made from fence-droppers, complemented by doilies and fresh blooms.

Homely touches

In the lead up to the big day the pair upcycled furniture found in Jackie’s gran’s house. This included a sideboard for the guestbook and gifts, a cupboard for the seating plan, the signing table and a bedside cupboard for the cake.

Forgoing tradition

It was important for Jackie to have her best friend stand beside her on her special day, and she said Jacob Berry made a fitting “man of honour”. “We’ve been friends since I was in year eight and he was in year seven,” she said. “Your best friend is your best friend, it doesn’t matter who they are.”

Wanting to have some fun with the seating, the couple had a sticker with each guest’s name hung within a reclaimed cabinet. Jackie said they had to use a washer to reveal their table number; like a scratchie. “I wanted to do something different and I saw an idea on Pinterest that reminded me of my gran’s cupboard,” she said. “Everyone said it was lots of fun.”

Dance party

Setting the tone for the evening, the bridesmaids and groomsmen got the party started as soon as Jackie and Johnny made their entrance as husband and wife. Their guests soon joined them kicking off the dance floor before dinner.

Birthday love

With only three days separating their birthdays Jackie and Johnny planned a weekend away to Melbourne to celebrate. “On the Saturday night we were going to watch the Lion King at the Regent Theatre, so Johnny arranged room service to be delivered while we were gone with the ring placed under the cloche,” Jackie said. “After the theatre we went back to the room and he got down on one knee.
