Moving towns for love

By Bride and Groom 28 April 2017

Seven years ago Kim Johnston made the move from Sydney to Blighty to pursue a relationship with Lockie Falls, and it did not take her long to settle into country life. The country flavour was also injected into their special day, held at Perricoota Station in Moama. And this year, just three days before their one-year anniversary, the couple welcomed their first child, Charlie Ronald Falls.

When Kim Falls was fitted for her custom wedding gown before her 2016 wedding, she knew she could never picture herself wearing anything else. The gown was from the Bespoke Collection by Sydney designer Karen Willis Holmes. ‘‘The ‘Paige Gown’ was a classic A-line shape featuring a sweetheart neckline and medium train. ‘‘The bodice was double boned and beautiful silk buttons at the back and the main attraction being the hard sewn sequins covering the entire bodice. ‘‘It was the first dress I ever tried on and I fell in love.’’ Kim complemented her gown with a fingertip veil and by carrying pastel and cream roses.

Her bridesmaids were Elisha Basse, Laura Johnston and Andrea Falls who wore full-length, mint coloured strapless gowns with a sweetheart neckline. Lockie’s best man was Travis Smith, and groomsmen were Tom Wilding-Davies and James McWilliams.

Kim said her advice to other brides is to ‘‘enjoy the time of the engagement as it's one of the most exciting times of your life’’. ‘‘The day of your wedding comes and goes so quickly. ‘‘Remember to take time out on your special day to just spend a few important minutes with your husband to take it all in as it's over in a flash. ‘‘At the end of the day you are there to marry your soul mate so try not to get too hung up in all of the cosmetic things as after all it's who you meet at the end of the aisle which matters the most.’’

The couple honeymooned at The Reef House in Palm Cove, Queensland before returning to their Blighty home ‘Maxwell’, from where they run Shorthorn cattle and Merino ewes and a livestock transport business.
