A couple’s shared passion for the great outdoors and their love for each other were equally celebrated on their wedding day. Laura Stewart and Mark Gibson tied the knot last November at the Sebel Pinnacle Valley Resort, surrounded by nature.
A trip to remember
When the pair set out on a five-week adventure from Shepparton to Cape York in Queensland Laura had no idea Mark had hidden an engagement ring inside the car door. Reaching the top point of Australia was made even more memorable when Mark got down on one knee after 13 days on the road.
Often spending their weekends camping and fishing, the outdoorsy couple couldn’t think of anything more fitting than getting married surrounded by nature. Laura said the Sebel Pinnacle Valley Resort was the dream spot to say ‘I do’. “As soon as we got there Mark said this is it, and we hadn’t even gone inside yet,” she said.
The newlyweds agreed the most magical part of the big day was a helicopter ride to Craig’s Hut, sipping on bubbles with their photographer. “It was absolutely amazing,” Laura said. “It was one of the best things we could have done because a wedding day is so hectic and we got some time together to talk.”
While they decided on simple decorations to embrace the scenery, their mutual love of fishing shone through on the big day. The celebration truly reflected this hobby: with Mark’s handmade wooden centrepieces complete with candles and fishing rods, a wishing well made from a fishing net, a fishing themed cake and button holes with fishing lures and flowers.
